Charlotte is North Carolina’s largest city and its downtown seems to be ever growing and refining. I’ve visited family friends in the suburbs and outlying rural areas there quite often but have also gotten to see a little bit of the larger city from time to time as seen here. (2015, 2017, 2022, 2023, 2025)



Though it’s a lot smaller than a city like Atlanta, I’m always impressed that Charlotte at night just seems 10x more beautiful as they have covered everything with neon lights and coordinate the nightly colors across all the various skyscrapers, giving a very cohesive feel.


These are two of the four statues at each corner of Independence Square in the heart of downtown.
World-renowned evangelist Billy Graham is originally from Charlotte and this large library/ museum surrounded by beautiful gardens showcases his life history.


As hub for American Airlines, Charlotte’s airport has a nice little museum of aviation with the actual “Miracle on the Hudson” jet flown by Sully.

Historic Settler’s Cemetery in the heart of downtown with graves from the start of the city to the Civil War.

The nice lake and outdoor amphitheater at Freedom Park.
Central Avenue has become the hipster area of bars and restaurants as well as old homes refurbished and put to eclectic uses
