My parents have moved to progressively smaller towns in Mississippi over the years, ending up in Seminary (population barely over 300!) where my dad built his own house. It’s known for its access to Okatoma Creek, a popular place for canoe and kayak. (2010, 2016, 2019, 2022)
Seminary has not much more than a few stores, school, and this old refurbished train station
Life in Mississippi requires a front porch to sit out and relax on during a muggy summer day
A major leisure activity in Seminary (and one of the reasons my dad moved there) is going on Okatoma Creek as you see my family doing here
Just down the way is Shady Acres General Store with lots of homegrown produce and homemade jams. (My favorite is FROG jam: figs, raspberries, orange, and ginger.) Plus lots of ‘unique’ and colorful yard art.
