A small town in the lower half of Mississippi, Columbia’s most notable aspect is its large county courthouse in the middle of a traffic circle in the historic downtown and its proximity to the Pearl River beside. However, I did learn that it was technically the capital of Mississippi for a few months when the state was formed before what would be Jackson became the permanent one. (2025)

The Marion County courthouse dominates the downtown view of the historic part of town.

Some local flavor with a historic drug store sign and small regional museum.
