I visited Baltimore several times for work conferences since the national offices of both organizations I have worked for area located there. Central to the city is its famous and bustling inner harbor. It is also full of interesting historical neighborhoods and boasts a rich maritime tradition. I am also a big Edgar Allan Poe fan, and he’s a signature part of the city. (2002,04,08,19,23)
An evening view of the harbor and one of many
ships displayed there.
The inner harbor, center point of downtown Baltimore, is surrounded by restaurants and shops.
Baltimore is full of historic neighborhoods with colorful crowded brick buildings such as the view of Fells Point seen here.
Another historic neighborhood, Little Italy is full of small authentic Italian restaurants with lots of hand-made pasta and pastries.
Another historic section of Baltimore called Mount Vernon with monuments to Washington and Lafeyette and an old cathedral.
The battle of Fort McHenry inspired Francis Scott Key to write the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ and you can walk the “o’er the ramparts” of this historic monument today
More from the Inner Harbor area
I just really like this shot of ‘spooky’ old gravestones
in the same cemetery where Edgar Allan Poe is buried.
