Just off Interstate 20, Crawfordville was once known as the hometown of Confederate leader and Atlanta politician A.H. Stephens. His historic home and the state park bearing his name are a major part of the town. In more recent years, however, it has apparently gotten a reputation in movie circles as an available location to serve as a small Southern town store front as it has been featured in many movies and TV shows.
The home and burial place of A.H. Stephens, former VP of the Confederacy is at the main entrance of the state park named after him.
The center town itself is full of these empty and blank old storefronts that serve as location shots in many films and TV shows set in small Southern town
The Taliaferro County Courthouse stands out at the entrance to town
