Jackson, GA
A dam across the Towliga River is the centerpiece for this state park and creates the very large High Falls Lake which the fronts the day use and visitor center side of the park. On the other side of the dam, the river continues down the middle of the park with hiking trails and campsites that follow along the impressive cascade of water that flows over large black rocks down the stream.
Kayaking on High Falls Lake (650 acres)
The large lake formed by the dam at High Falls lies mostly outside the park area but you can start your paddle there before passing into the area where the lake widens and is full of private properties. The biggest interest paddling in this wide open area is probably the variety of lake houses and docks along the fingers of the lake, some quite quirky and artistic. Also a little bit cool is that the park has a pioneer camping area on the other side of the lake that you have to paddle over to get to and stay at.
