Laurel is a medium sized town in the southern part of Mississippi that has a surprisingly rich host of the arts–from having been the hometown of opera singer Leontyne Price to the noted Rogers art museum to a historic district full of beautiful old homes and buildings. (2021, 2023)
Laurel is full of multiple beautifully refurbished old homes. Much of this is thanks to the notoriety it got as the location of a popular home makeover show that brought attention to the town and money for many such projects.

Inside the Lauren Rodgers Museum of Art which grew out of the private collection of a local wealthy family in the 1920s and now has significant works of European and American art, British silver, Japanese woodblocks, and Native American basketry.
