The Neckar River is an important waterway flowing for many miles in Baden-Wuttemburg from the foothills of the Alps down towards Mannheim where it joins the Rhine. Over the years, many towns large and small sprang up around it, most of these with castles and towers on the hills above it. The area is most known for its plentiful vineyards that make Baden-Wuttemburg an important German wine region. (2001, 2007, 2011, 2020)
