The Deutsche Alpenstraße (German Alpine Road) is a long winding scenic drive through the Bavarian Alps from Bodensee (Lake Constance) in west to the lake of Konigsee in the east. My friend and I only drove a short way on it—from Lindau over to the castle of Neuschwanstein near Fussen—but even that small part offered some spectacular mountain views. (2001)
Just as you head away from the lakeside views of Bodensee at Lindau the scenery suddenly changes to open fields and the snow capped mountains of the Swiss Alps beyond
