Though I had wanted to go from the start, it took a few visits to France before I finally made my way up from Paris to Monet’s house and gardens in Giverny. I was well rewarded for the trip by not only getting to see Monet’s place on a nice sunny day but also a wonderful set of old houses settled in the green hills of this secluded part of Normandy. Monet’s colorfully bright house and studio in Giverny are where he created many of his most famous works
The gardens chock full of brilliant flowers and greenery were a source of inspiration for many of his paintings. Most notably, the unique Japanese garden with its water lily pond was the subject matter of his most famous series of work called ‘Les Nympheas’
