At the start of of my second year in grad school, my church student group went for an outing at Parkside Ranch in the Magog-Orford region of Quebec. This was my first chance to really see the Quebec countryside in the winter (covered with snow) as well as my first time to try a variety of winter sports which weren’t possible back in Mississippi! (1998)

Piles of snow and great weather greeted us at the entrance to Parkside
Ranch—I’d
never seen so much snow in my life!
This is the hill that we ended up inner tubing down…

My first time ever on snow skis. You could tell I had no idea what I was doing!
Here’s part of our group as we are ‘cross-country skiing’ through the woods near Parkside Ranch.
