I just happened upon the small town of Sparta, GA as I was driving somewhere else but couldn’t help but stop when the huge and beautiful town courthouse suddenly appeared in my vision since the local highway takes you right through the middle of town. Upon stopping, I found a set of walking tours that highlighted the numerous old homes in the small area just around the town square which I enjoyed stopping to take picture of.
This large courthouse that dominates the town square is actually a replacement of the original that was destroyed in a fire just a few years back in 2014. True to the original outside, it certainly makes an impression. Even though I was not aware of it at the time, however, it’s sad to think of all the historic architecture that was destroyed.
