Chenonceau is known for its elegant castle stretching across the Cher River. There is very little outside of the huge castle grounds, the small town being just a very few buildings. (2007)
The chateau at Chenonceau spans what was once a bridge across the river, a prime example of the rich castles of the region
Inside the castle are both elegant living quarters as well as the old functional kitchen areas such as the larder
Out front are beautiful gardens and walkways
Also on the grounds of the castle is an old-style farm with gardens and animals for viewing
The small village of Chenonceau is dwarfed by its large castle. There are just a few buildings and this very typical country church which happens to have been where Catherine de Medici was christened
